The Comfort of Christ  “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.” - 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
I love the way God’s word shows us clearly what it means to be a “Christian” and how it challenges us to serve Him by serving others. Are you using the comfort and compassion God has bestowed on you to be a comfort and a blessing to others? Prayer Stop® outreaches are not just a great way to share the gospel with lost people, or to pray with people in need. Prayer Stops® have proven to be a comfort to those who are hurting, heartbroken and hopeless as we offer them the comfort and the compassion we have in Christ. I tell you the truth, the prayers of the righteous are powerful and effective and God is moving in amazing ways each and every time we do a Prayer Stop® outreach. Prayer Stop® Outreaches  – National College Day of Prayer - UNTWhat most people didn’t know is that Thursday, 2/25/10 was the National Collegiate Day of Prayer. Mike Sweigart was faithful and true and in spite of the cold wind blowing, set up on the campus of UNT to pray with the students and faculty. It didn’t take long until one girl walked up weeping, thanking God that Mike was there to pray with her. Just one more in a long line of examples of what God does when we make ourselves available and take prayer to the people... – Prayer on the Square - Film Fest in Downtown Denton, TX  What will separate us from the love of Christ(Romans 8:34-39)? Not even cold windy days can keep us from sharing the love of the Lord with others. In spite of what seems to be an endless winter in Texas (Global warming – ha!), God has graciously allowed us to continue to get up, get out and take prayer to the people. First up was the Thin Line Film Festival in the town center of Denton. Hundreds of people came from all around the world and although they came to see various documentaries, many found a friend in Jesus as well. While the temperature was cold and the wind blew hard, many found comfort, warmth and shelter in the love of the Lord we shared with them that day. Many were prayed with and one was saved! One motor cycle rider (with his dog on the bike) even circled back twice just to STOP and pray with us.
 It was also very encouraging to see my wife, my kids, my father and our newest GNN Staff member all working together to reach out to the lost, the lonely and those not living for Him. To see our 6-year old son approaching people with giant money tracts was pleasing to my heart. Just one more reason why I believe people love the Prayer Stop®. It’s “Family Friendly” and an activity that draws you together as one in Christ. Remember, “The family that prays together, stays together.” – Pit Stops & Prayer Stops – NASCAR races in Atlanta  What an amazing and mighty God we serve! If I had to find one word that encapsulates the awesome way God worked at the NASCAR races in Atlanta, it would Magnanimous! Between the grace and love shown to us by Bill Carpenter (National Director of MRO ministries), watching my son Trey maturing into a man as he contends for the faith, seeing many souls saved and the hearts, minds and lives of people changed forever, I would say the entire experience was nothing short of supernaturally spectacular. When I consider all the sponsors who spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to promote their products to the people who come to these NASCAR races and how God got us a Prayer Stop® set up on vendor row, in front of thousands of race fans, for FREE; I stand in awe of the infinitely awesome God we serve. In fact, our location couldn’t have been better! We had the honor and privilege of working with some wonderful and committed Christians like Bill and his team (Jim and John among others) who head up the I Am Second campaign sponsored by Interstate Battery, and have a truck with a giant video screen continuously playing testimonies from people like Joe Gibbs (shown in the photo), Darrell Waltrip and many others, made finding people to pray with the easy part! We would tell people, “Racecars take a pit stop, People need a prayer stop! What can we pray with you about?” and the response was overwhelming. People were actually waiting for someone to pray with them - PTL!
 The only problem I thought we had was there were only two of us (me and Trey) to pray with all the people God was sending our way. Then, as if on cue, here comes my old friend and brother, John Bensley who was part of a group assembled by Justin Pierce of the Evangelism Alliance. I am constantly blown away by the way God takes care of all our needs. As if to answer my prayer, more people show up and immediately start to experience and come to realize how powerful and effective these Prayer Stops are. I’ll never forget, when we were overwhelmed with too many people to minster to, God, in the nick of time, sent us some solid, sold out, precious brothers to help us meet the needs of all these people who were constantly coming over to the kiosk asking for prayer.
 One person and prayer in particular really humbled me. A woman approached us holding a sign with a photo on it and asked if we would pray for a little boy named Nolan who has two brain tumors. As I prayed with her for baby Nolan, I couldn’t help but be moved by this woman’s faith and be extremely grateful for the health of our five kids at the same time. I am often astonished how as we endeavor to refresh others by giving of our time, talent and resources, God in turn refreshes us (Proverbs 11:25). “You may go out dragging your feet, but you will come back clicking your heels” - Psalms 126:6. Not only do we have the honor of watching God save souls, we witness God working by faith, in the hearts, minds and lives of believers who join with us to petition Him in prayer to do amazing and mighty things. The fruit that God produces at a Prayer Stop® is immeasurable! Needless to say there were so many amazing things that happened during this outreach I couldn’t even begin to list them all. I guess it’s like EBC. “If you want to know, you got to go!”
– Take Prayer to the People – Places to Put a Prayer Stop®  While the places to put up a Prayer Stop® are practically endless, I thought it would be good to list a few just to give you all some ideas. Retail Stores (Wal-Mart, Dollar Tree, Hobby Lobby, etc.), Grocery Stores, Senior Centers/Homes, Hospitals, Prisons, YMCA, Post Offices, Parades, Shows, Fairs, Festivals and Events, NASCAR Races, Churches, Concerts, Public Parks & Sidewalks, Bus Stops, Train Stations, Film Festivals, Courthouses, City Hall, Libraries, Schools, and College Campuses just to list a few.
