Water Flows in the Wasteland

“This is what the LORD says— he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters, "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.”
- Isaiah 43:16, 18-19

Wow! God surely is making a way in the desert and creating streams in the wasteland. What an amazing month January has been for GNN. With 5-new Prayer Stop Partners, two major outreaches and some exciting new items on their way, we are extremely excited about all God is doing with this awesome outreach idea. Not to mention the fact that we found out that Casting Crowns (my favorite band) will be the headline band for the upcoming “Cruise with a Cause” put on by Praisefest Ministries that we do the outreach training for.

Latest & Greatest – New Prayer Stop Ice Breaker

As you may or may not be aware, for most of my life, I trained thousands of people how to approach the public while representing most of America's largest newspapers. Because of the thousands I have approached in public venues, I know to be successful at any kiosk you must have something or some way to get people to stop so you can break the ice and talk to them. The first step in our IPOD Training (4-Steps to effective communication) is I – Ice Breaker. In an effort to help our Prayer Stop Partners be more fruitful and effective, we developed a new Ice Breaker that ties exclusively to the Prayer Stop kiosk. We tried this out at our recent outreach at ASU and they worked great! If there's anything I have learned over the years when it comes to Ice Breakers, the better they look, the more the get took… And these high gloss postcard size tracts look awesome! To read the text on the back, click this: Prayer Stop Ice Breaker.
Another new and exciting thing that we recently started is a Prayer Stop Facebook page. If you haven’t signed up yet, please go to http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=172788016097 and sign up today. It’s a great way to keep up on all the awesome things God is doing with Prayer Stop.

National Day of Prayer – What's Your Prayer Plan?

What are your plans for the National Day of Prayer on May 6th? Perhaps you should pick up a Prayer Stop and talk to the churches in your area about taking prayer to the people this year? God has opened up a door for GNN to lead the Prayer Stop outreach of this year’s N. Texas National Day of Prayer outreach. I have no doubt that if you approach the People in charge of your area, God will do the same for you! That means on May 6th, GNN will have Prayer Stops set up in the town center of Denton during the afternoon and then all throughout the Denton County Fairgrounds that evening. God willing, we will have them set up in various places all around Dallas as well. If you would like to be a part or this massive N. Texas outreach effort for the National Day of Prayer or have any questions, please e-mail us today at contactus@prayerstop.org

Welcome New Prayer Stop Leaders!

Each month, as the Lord allows, we would like to make mention of all the men and woman who have recently become one of our Prayer Stop Partners (a Counselor, Leader, Minister or Sponsor). So, with that thought in mind, we welcome and thank God for our latest Prayer Stop Leaders. Please pray for all of them as they endeavor to do God’s will by training men and women to pray with and minster to people at a Prayer Stop.

(From Left to Right) Joe and Jennifer of Union, New Jersey, David Smith of San Diego, California, Scott and Patte Smith, Orlando, Florida and Victor Mathis of Thonotosassa, Florida.

Please also welcome GNN's newest Staff Member: Mike Sweigart.

Mike SweigartMike moved to Denton from Los Angeles in mid January and got his first taste of a Prayer Stop in Tempe, AZ on the campus of ASU. His role will be to be the servant of all. In other words, Mike will be the Prayer Stop Partner’s support person. As a new believer, this will be a great way for Mike to learn what Jesus was all about by learning to help, support and pray for all the various PS Partners. Please pray for Mike as he endeavors to do God’s will by serving and empowering others to be successful in their Prayer Stop efforts.

Prayer Stop Outreach - Dallas Cowboys Playoff Game

One more outreach and 4-souls saved. On a very cold (about 32 degrees) but sunny Saturday in Dallas (actually Arlington), with 3 different Darrel’s (My Dad, Trey and I) and a couple other volunteers (Ken Rundus and Randy Jones), we embarked on the tough task of getting proud Dallas Cowboys fans to set aside their idolatry and beer long enough to pray with us. In spite of thousands who passed us by, there were many who took the time to STOP and Pray. The first woman we prayed with evidently worked for the Cowboys. She loved the Prayer Stop and after we prayed God would protect all the players and keep them from being injured, she asked “Who’s idea was this?” I replied, “It’s a God idea.”

As His word says, “Where sin abounds, grace abounds the more” and in spite of many proud people (one of which kneeled at the kiosk with a cigarette in his mouth mocking God – (see left photo), four souls were saved that day! The first one was named Darrel (see photo). That made 4 different “Darrel’s” on the same day, at the same place and at the same time praying God would hear our prayer and save my other brother Darrel’s soul!

We created a video of the Prayer Stop Playoff Outreach for your encouragement and enjoyment. Please take the time to watch this 3-minute video by clicking on this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEOg5mm-C0o

Prayer Stop Outreach – Tempe AZ at ASU

With love in our hearts and God's word in our mouths we met up and went out with a few dear brothers and sisters to reach out to the very proud and self-righteous students at Arizona State University in Tempe Arizona. Joining GNN’s newest Staff member (Mike Sweigart) and I were Shawn Holes (http://salvationjunction.com/), Scott and Patte Smith and Jeff Rose. Almost immediately after setting up the Prayer Stop, we were inundated with students coming over to talk to us about the Gospel and the things of God. All day for about 8-hours, we answered one question after another. In spite of many preconceived notices and fallacies about God, the Bible, Jesus and Salvation, we planted many seeds that we pray will find good soil in the hearts of those who stopped to listen. As I always say, "You can always count the seeds in an apple but you can never count all the apples in a single seed." I have faith that God will do a mighty work on that campus. The highlight of the day was when Richard was witnessing to a young, ex-catholic girl and by the grace of God, I was able to help out and we saw the young lady get soundly saved! (See photo above)

Later that night we went out to Mill Street which is the place most of the students who live in sin go on a Friday and Saturday night. God blessed our efforts and we even prayed with a couple guys who were clearly not saved (see photo). Interesting that the first person I should run into that night was the first student I ministered to on campus earlier in the day. After we were done discussing what we were talking about earlier in the day, I told him God really must want him to get saved since He sent me to him twice in the same day! I hope and pray this kid gets saved. His name is Peter – Pray for him!

Pray for Prayer Stop - Prayer Needs

1. Please continue to pray for us as we make every effort to complete this Post a Prayer programming project. The enemy is fighting us every step of the way. This is the final piece of the Prayer Stop puzzle and it must be in place before we can really role out the entire Prayer Stop ministry. PTL that He has provided a wonderful Christian brother who is helping to develop the program and the database. His name is Grant Conklin so please lift him up in your prayers as he does the best he can to make the “Post a Prayer” feature on our website complete.
2. Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, - Ephesians 6:19. As we ramp up this new, powerful and effective Prayer Stop outreach, the enemy continues to attack us every way possible. Computers and servers crashing, appointments and flights canceled and so much more. Pray God will give us the courage and the strength to run the race with perseverance He has marked out for us.

Come to the First Ever Prayer Stop Boot Camp – FREE!

Prayer Stop Boot CampDon't forget, we have decided to hold the first ever GNN, Prayer Stop Boot Camp. Comparable to the Evangelism Boot Camps we used to host for Living Waters and Way of the Master, these camps will be the place to come and get equipped and prepared to launch a Prayer Stop ministry of your own. The camp will consist of 4-days and 3-nights of intensive, hands on training featuring I.P.O.D. that is sure to ignite a fire and a passion for Prayer Stop in all who participate. By the time you leave the PSBC (Prayer Stop Boot Camp), I have no doubt you will be refreshed and ready to run the race with perseverance that God has marked out for you. God willing, it looks like this first ever PSBC will be held in Dallas in July of 2010 at the Celebrate Freedom concert put on by KLTY.

In our last newsletter, we mentioned giving the first 20-people who purchased a Prayer Stop a ticket for one to come for free. However, I later wrote, "Rest assured, you will not only go home with all the knowledge and training you need to succeed, you will also be returning home with your brand new, Full Color Prayer Stop kiosk and all the accessories you need to establish a Prayer Stop for your church, ministry or association." which caused some people to be confused. So, for the sake of clarity, let me explain. Between now and April 15th, with every purchase of a Prayer Stop Starter Pack, we will give ONE FREE admission for one person to the PSBC. That's right. The first ever PSBC is FREE with every PS Starter pack purchased! You pay for the flight (or to drive) to Dallas, Texas and purchase a PS Starter Pack between now and 4/15/10 (under $500.00) and I will take care of the hotel, transportation to and from the airport/hotel and Prayer Stop places, the cost of training and two meals each day. Unfortunately, this is a limited offer and available only to the first 20-people (now 16) who purchase a PS Starter Pack. It’s also an offer we will probably not be repeating any time in the near future. To get the Full Color Prayer Stop kiosk, all the accessories, the training, lodging and transportation for under $500.00 is just not something we can afford to do all the time. Don’t miss the chance to pick up your Prayer Stop and attend the first ever PSBC which will prove to be a life changing experience for all who participate.

Closing Comments
In closing I would once again like to take this opportunity to let you all know how much I appreciate your prayers and support. Without all of you and the grace of God, none of this would be possible. God is surely moving magnanimously with this new Prayer Stop. Please consider being a part of this amazing new ministry and pick up your Prayer Stop today. I pray God blesses you and your family in this coming year and that you make every effort to consistently and persistently sow the seeds of faith, hope, truth and love everywhere you go. Until next month, never forget, I always thank God for you as I remember you in my prayers (Philemon 1:4).
